Leadership Models That Discourage Childlikeness Many believers let go of their childlike spirit once they assume leadership roles—whether in pastoral work, ministry, organizations, or family. Why? Because they are subtly taught: – “You cannot show weakness.” – “You cannot have needs.” – “You must be the example.” – “You must hold everything together.” – “You must be the strong one for others.” But Jesus—the greatest leader in history—washed feet, wept openly, admitted sorrow, showed exhaustion, and repeatedly told His disciples His dependence on the Father. Leaders are not meant to be superheroes. Leaders are meant to be children who follow the Father. Leadership does not disqualify childlikeness. It requires it.
