Jesus Became Small to Show Us What God is Really Like Philippians 2:5-7 5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. NLT If you want to understand what God is like, look at Jesus kneeling to wash feet. Look at Him touching lepers. Look at Him blessing children. Look at Him riding into Jerusalem, not on a warhorse, but on a donkey. Look at Him allowing Himself to be misunderstood, overlooked, and rejected. Jesus—the image of the invisible God—embraced humility without shame. He did not climb the ladder of religious respectability; He descended it. He did not position Himself beside the powerful; He moved among the powerless. He did not strive to be impressive; He lived to reveal the Father’s heart. His greatness was shown through humility. And He calls us into that same generous humility, because smallness is where childlikeness lives. Becoming Childlike Again: Page 118 New to OneFather?
