From Offspring to Heirs
When Paul stood in Athens and addressed the philosophers of his time, he made a notable statement. Surrounded by their altars and inscriptions, he quoted their poets and said: “We are His offspring.” — Acts 17:28
Not outsiders. Not strangers. Not forgotten. Offspring. Paul wasn’t giving them a new identity—he was unveiling the identity they already possessed long before they understood it.
But in Paul’s letters to the churches, he goes even further. He doesn't stop at offspring. He speaks of something deeper, richer, and far more intimate.
When we receive the Spirit of Sonship, we instinctively know that we are heirs. Heirs of God. Co-heirs with Christ. And with that single word—heirs —Paul invites us into the awe-inspiring reality of what it means to live within the Father’s love.
