Playfulness: Recovering the Lightness We Lost
Playfulness is one of the purest forms of feeling unburdened. It is the spontaneous joy of a heart that feels safe, seen, and free. It is the creativity that flows from a soul not weighed down by fear. It is the laughter that escapes when the world feels like a gift again.
Children don't plan play. They don't explain it or apologize for it. Playfulness just comes naturally because their hearts are light. But as adults, heaviness gradually replaces playfulness. We become guarded, serious, efficient, cautious, and consumed with outcomes, productivity, responsibility, and self-protection.
Somewhere along the way, the playfulness God intended for us is buried beneath the weight of life. Playfulness is not immaturity—it's a product of freedom.
It is the joy of a childlike heart healed by love.
