Chosen, Known, and Loved Before Time
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible paints a stunning picture: God chose us before the foundation of the world. (Ephesians 1:4-5) He set His love on us before we were born. (Jeremiah 1:5) He planned good works for us before we walked in them. (Ephesians 2:10) Jesus was slain before the foundation of the world. (Revelation 13:8) Grace was given to us before time began. (2 Timothy 1:9)
In every tradition, these truths serve as reminders that God’s love comes before our response. This does not lessen the importance of personal faith —every Christian tradition affirms the need to turn to Christ.
However, it means that faith is not the start of our story with God.
Instead, it is our awakening to a story that has always been true.
