Does the Father feel intimidating?
For many, the word “father” evokes memories of absence, inconsistency, harshness, or emotional distance. Some fathers were good but broken. Others were present but unpredictable. Some loved deeply but didn’t know how to express it. Others were wounded themselves and passed on what they carried.
As a result, many believers love Jesus deeply but find it hard to relax around the Father. Jesus feels safe; the Father feels intimidating. Jesus feels close; the Father feels distant. Jesus exhibits compassion; the Father seems like the one “behind the scenes” who must be appeased.
But Jesus came to shatter this illusion entirely.
