Striving Has Nothing to Do with the Kingdom
Religion thrives on striving. The kingdom thrives on receiving. Religion says, “Do more, try harder, pray harder, sacrifice more.” The kingdom says, “Come to Me, and I will give you rest.” Striving comes from fear. Rest comes from love. Striving looks inward for strength. Trust looks upward for help.
Striving exhausts. Trust renews. Striving says, “If I do everything right, I’ll be blessed.” Trust says, “I am blessed because I am the Father’s child.” This is not passivity. Trust is not laziness. Trust does not abandon responsibility. Trust simply means the weight of your life is no longer on your shoulders.
Children do not stop living when they trust—their whole lives become freer because they are no longer carrying what they were never meant to carry.
