Why Adults Fear Imagination
Many adults distrust imagination for several reasons: Fear of being deceived - We assume imagination is spiritually risky, forgetting that God Himself created it. Shame from childhood -
Maybe your creativity was mocked. Maybe your inner world was ignored. Maybe you were told to “grow up.”
Trauma and self-protection - Imagination needs an open heart—and pain often shuts it. An over dependence on rationalism - Western culture favors analysis over intuition, logic over mystery, and explanation over revelation.
Yet Jesus never regarded imagination as inferior. He constantly invited people into it.
And children—free from these fears—easily encounter God through the imagination He gave them.
