Grace Removes the Fear of Not Being Enough
Performance relies on fear: fear of failing; fear of not being spiritual enough; fear of disappointing God; fear of letting people down; fear of falling short; fear of losing approval; fear of being disqualified.
Fear is a ruthless taskmaster. It drains the soul and damages closeness. But 1 John 4:18 says: “Perfect love casts out fear.” Fear cannot exist alongside the revelation of the Father’s love.
And grace is the expression of that love.
Grace is not leniency. Grace is the assurance that the Father is not waiting for you to be perfect—He is meeting you where you are. Grace does not make obedience unnecessary; it makes obedience possible because only a heart that feels safe can truly surrender.
