How Spiritual Environments Reward the Wrong Things
Many communities unintentionally reinforce: – busyness – theological complexity – spiritual performance – emotional stoicism – perfectionism – certainty – productivity – impressive gifting.
But Jesus rewards trust, humility, honesty, need, weakness, repentance, relational closeness, and dependence on the Father.
When the wrong things are celebrated, people become more hardened. When the right things are celebrated, people become more tender. Childlike qualities flourish in a culture that values what Jesus values.
Growth in the kingdom does not take you away from childlikeness; instead, it deepens your connection to it.
