Joy is Not the Absence of Sorrow—It is the Presence of Love
Joy and sorrow are not opposites; they coexist within mature, childlike hearts. Jesus was described as both: – a man of sorrows – and anointed with the oil of joy above all His companions.
Sorrow is part of a gentle heart. Joy is part of a healed heart.
They do not cancel each other out; rather, they deepen each other. Joy does not mean pretending everything is fine. It is the steady awareness that the Father is with us in everything.
Joy is not laughter without tears; it is laughter through tears because love holds the soul.
