Remaining is Learning to Return Quickly
Every believer drifts at times. We all forget who we are. Sometimes we're distracted by pressure, fear, or busyness. The mature believer isn't the one who never drifts. They are the one who returns quickly.
Returning doesn't require dramatic repentance or emotional intensity — it just needs awareness. A quiet whisper from the heart: “Father, here I am again.” Not crawling back in shame, not proving we deserve to return, and not begging for re-acceptance.
Just returning—like the child who remembers his home, like the sheep that hear the Shepherd’s voice, like the branch reconnecting to the vine.
The Spirit Helps Us Remain
Remaining is not primarily our work. It is the Spirit’s work within us. Paul writes: “The Spirit helps us in our weakness.” — Romans 8:26
The Spirit continually reminds us of the Father’s heart, re-centers our identity, calms our fears, heals our wounds, lifts our eyes to Jesus, anchors us in grace, whispers “Abba” in our hearts, and leads us back when we drift.
Remaining is possible because the Spirit never stops drawing us into the Father’s love.
