Why Children Never Perform for Love
A child does not wake up in the morning wondering how to earn their parents’ affection. They do not calculate whether they are measuring up. They do not try to impress to secure belonging.
They simply are loved.
This is the natural state of a healthy family—belonging before behavior, identity before obedience, affection before achievement. But when a child grows up in an environment where love is conditional, something inside them breaks. They start to control themselves—tone, emotions, behavior, personality—to avoid rejection or seek approval. And many Christians carry these patterns into their spiritual lives.
We genuinely love God, but deep inside, we're afraid of disappointing Him. This isn’t because we are rebellious; it’s because we’ve been wounded.
Grace is the Father’s way of healing the hurt.
