Humility is not pretending to be less capable than we are.
It is accepting that we are created beings—dependent by design. We were never meant to be the source of our own strength, identity, wisdom, or security.
Humility, in this sense, is the most honest state of the soul. It reveals the truth about who we are and who God is.
This is why humility feels like rest. Because it frees us from carrying burdens we were never meant to bear.
Even the apostle Paul described his spiritual life not in terms of personal strength, but in terms of embraced weakness and grace received. He discovered that humility was not a barrier to communion with God—it was the doorway.
Children live in this doorway. Adults often construct walls to shield themselves from it.
