The Father's grief
As a father myself, I would rather suffer than to see my children suffer. If all fathering comes from God, then the very best expressions of being a dad are but a shadow of the one and only true Father (Ephesians 4:4-6).
If I experience pain when I see my children endure hardships, what was the unfathomable price the Father paid in order to secure our redemption? There is no question that the cross is and will be forever the unshakeable token of the Father’s affection.
In that moment when Jesus took upon Himself our sin so that we could become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21), the Father’s grief must have been unimaginable.
